Michael F. Edgell concentrates his practice on adoption law, including private placement adoptions, contested adoptions, interstate adoptions, termination of parental rights and private dependency. Michael represents birth parents, adoptive parents and agencies.

Michael also practices in the area of labor and employment law with an emphasis on counseling faith based organizations and businesses with regard to: 1) policies and procedures; 2) defending against allegations of discrimination and harassment; 3) employment agreements; 4) restrictive covenants; 5) EEOC investigations; 6) how to avoid claims of discrimination and harassment.

Additional practice areas include business transactions, estate planning, and litigation.

Michael graduated from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor Degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2001. In 2000, Michael won the Canby Moot Court Competition and secured a place on the Moot Court First Amendment Team. Michael also received recognition as a William H. Pedrick Scholar and earned membership in the Order of the Barristers.

Michael is a volunteer with Hope Women’s Centers, serving on the steering committee for the Phoenix Center. With centers in Phoenix, Coolidge and Apache Junction, HWC is a Christian non-profit organization that has served vulnerable women for over 30 years.

Michael formerly served as a member of the Young Professional’s Counsel of UMOM New Day Centers. UMOM New Day Centers is Arizona’s largest homeless shelter serving homeless families.

Michael has served on the Labor and Employment Section Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Arizona State Bar since 2013, assisting in the planning of monthly seminars, the State Bar Convention (2014), and annual Fall seminar.

Michael was honored to serve as an adjunct professor teaching a unit of labor and employment law for the Masters In Legal Studies program at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law for the Spring 2016 semester.
